Uncover the power within you

Confidence is not something that only the specially selected few have access to, it is inside us all. Sometimes the world will try to beat it out of us, sometimes we have to manufacture it to allow us to achieve what we most crave in life. But it is possible to find yours by on a journey of self-discovery.

Certain exercises will empower you and lead you to insightful reflections that help you understand how to find yours and why it’s not quite where you want to be now. And as you go on this you will find the limitless possibilities that await you when your confidence is at an all-time high.

Rewriting your inner dialogue

What you say to yourself shapes the contours of your confidence. Do you know where these words came from? Are they on repeat in your head from as far back as you remember? Are they really true? What is the evidence?

You can change that narrative with a more positive self talk based on facts. Silence the words that have been etched on your mind by others and amplify the words of kindness and compassion that you know you deserve to hear every day.

Be Authentic – You are perfect exactly as you are

True confidence comes from allowing yourself to be the person you were born to be. Celebrate the things that make you unique, take advantage of the gifts you were given to help you stand out from the crowd. Wear your quirks, flaws and imperfections with pride because they are strengths given to you for a reason. There will never be and has never been another you. Rewrite that inner dialogue with unapologetic conviction and watch your confidence blossom.

Step beyond your comfort zone

It is said that this is where true happiness lies. Learn how to take calculated risks and measure how you feel on the other side. Take baby steps, you can always retreat, what have you got to lose?

Imagine how it would feel to be brave, fearless and strong, able to go out and get what you want. Everything you do today was once a step beyond your comfort zone. The bigger the steps you take, usually results in the greater rewards

Recognising your achievements

You are not starting from scratch. Every little achievement you have made up to this point in your life has given you what you need and many of those things we take for granted. We learned to walk, talk and play. Our best friends, our partners, our bosses, our work colleagues? They were all strangers that we may have feared talking to once up on time!

List your achievements, you will be amazed by how much you’ve packed into your life already.

Embracing your success

Everything you have achieved so far is a testimony to your own brilliance. No one else achieved those things for you, it was all you. It’s all too easy to brush off small accomplishments but each other these were building the foundations of the person you are today. Now can you add more to improve what you’ve already become? Imagine what it would feel like to go forward with unwavering conviction, knowing that you’ve already come so far and achieved so much, which means you still have all of that untapped potential to discover over the years to come.

Repeat the process until it becomes second nature

Think back to a time when you struggled with a new concept, learning to ride a bike or a horse or sail a boat! The nerves, the frustrations, the times you chastised yourself for being unable to do it. It’s no wonder it’s a little bit difficult to start something new!

But think about the pleasures that ‘new thing’ has brought you since and how good are you at it now, how much has your confidence grown? And why? Because you just kept at it. You took one day at a time. You wanted it so you chased it and repeated the process until it became second nature.

Know yourself

Who are you really when there is no one around? Are you too afraid to be brilliant? Can you look yourself in the mirror and know that you are beautiful in your own right? In comparison to others, living up to expectations, trying to impress people is a practice we spend hours on for those who will never even realise. And who are these people anyway, do they have what you want? Do they behave in a way that sits well with you?

When you allow yourself the time and space, and can ask the right questions, you will know and understand yourself in a way that gives you confidence beyond measure

Identify and challenge your self-limiting beliefs

Human beings are capable of achieving anything that another person before them has. What are your self-limiting beliefs? What stories and excuses are you making that are holding you back?
